It’s been awhile…
So here’s a mac-daddy update of what we’ve been up to!Coltrane is now 3 months old – and doing lots of amazing things! He is holding his head up on his own, standing up if we’re holding him, rolling from his stomach to his back, sticking his tongue out, laughing and most importantly, sleeping up to 8 hours at a time! Katie is especially grateful for that one!
We celebrated our first Easter with Coltrane. He looked super-duper cute with his vest and little hat. It was a stressful week leading up to Easter -Brian was double booked on classes, had insane late nights at work, all while Katie is back to work full time, taking care of Coltrane and getting us ready for our trip out to the Midwest. Despite all that, we had a great Easter service at Fair Oaks Church followed by a great afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa Tatman’s house. Katie’s mom prepared a delicious meal and Coltrane had his very first Easter basket! See the picture of him with the little Easter bunny – how cute!
After that we took our Midwest Tour. Coltrane took his first airplane ride to Indianapolis on which he was a perfect angel. He slept practically the entire way. We took a few days to spend with Cole’s Great-Grandparents Tatman and Aunt Susan.- and boy did they love him! Katie’s Grandma was in a physical therapy rehabilitation facility, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. She kept calling Coltrane a ‘little doll baby.” It was very sweet.
We left Indianapolis and made our way to Decatur to visit Brian’s parents – again, Coltrane slept the whole way in the car and developed a 6 hour a night sleep schedule. It was amazing. Spending a few days with “Mimi and Papa” was great and we got to see Ed, Pauline, Mikel, Amy, Faith and Amy’s parents also.
“While we’re out we might as well keep going…”
So we did.
The next leg of our journey took us to Springfield, Missouri where Coltrane got to meet his Great Grandparents Stearns (Brian’s mom’s parents), Aunt Carol & Uncle Bill, Aunt Bev & Uncle Johnny, Aunt Cherry & Uncle Bruce, and even got to see Robert, Hope & Lilly! Coltrane was still a champ sleeping the 6 hour car ride, being good awake and continued sleep at night. All in all a very smooth trip.
Once we got home it was time to hit the ground running – everyone’s back at work, Brian had a busy class and Coltrane is in daycare at the church. It’s nice because he’s right down the hall and we can spend lunch with him, but it’s still not like seeing him all day. We’re very thankful for the situation we have though. Works out well for all of us.
Right now, we are getting ready for a really busy summer including lots of weddings. The summer looks a little overwhelming, but we are still looking forward to it – especially taking Coltrane to The Outer Banks towards the end of the summer for his first beach experience. We can’t wait!
Brian just finished his second class of grad school (and hopefully his 2nd A) and Katie is looking forward to getting out to the pool some and doing a little more gardening outside.
That’s pretty much been us for the last few months. Sorry it’s been so long since we’ve updated – we’ll try and be better about it! But to make up for it, enjoy these pictures!
Love,

Wonderful pictures of Easter and the trip. We sure enjoyed having you with us. The video of Cole rolling over is so funny and worth a million bucks. The commentary by you and Katie make it worth an extra million dollars. Keep posting the pics and vids. Love, Dad
