Baby Room Decorations

Katie and I typically aren’t decoration people.

We like decorations, we just don’t buy them a lot or really see how they fit outside of the store. We’re working on it… :-)

One set of decorations that we (mostly me!) are excited about is a set of three records for Coltrane’s room. They are jazz records by his ‘namesakes.’

This is the first of three that have arrived – Miles Davis’ “The Birth Of The Cool.” I can’t wait till Coltrane is older and I can take the decoration down and put it on the stereo and share with him this artform and this genius.

What a lucky dad I will be.

Awesome gift

Katie and I – and Coltrane – have been blessed with MANY great and generous gifts. We wish we could publicly thank everyone – and even show off a little bit because our friends and family have just been ridiculous with their generosity. God has supremely blessed us.

But we’ll bring your attention to this one gift in particular that we hold very special.

This is a little train made by my cousin Robert’s wife, Hope. We love them and don’t get to spend a ton of time with them. When we do see them, it’s like no time has ever passed.

This wooden letter train is magnetic to hold the letters together, and will actually roll! It’s hand painted and makes me smile.

Thanks Robert & Hope!

Back to school

Accepted

Now it’s official – I have been accepted to Liberty University! I will be earning my Master of Arts in Worship Studies; Ethnomusicology.

Apparently, I didn’t think the baby was going to fill my life enough… so I’m adding school on top of it. It’s funny how God works sometimes.

Three cheers for education!

36 week checkup

Katie and  I went to her 36th week appointment on Wednesday.  The doctor was very nice and said that everything looked great!  She put us on the ‘appointment every week’ schedule and said that Coltrane is head down and that there is plenty of fluid.

Praise God for His goodness!

Christmas 2009

Katie and I celebrated Christmas with her family in Reston, VA – just 15 to 20 minutes from where we live.  We had a great time hanging out with her parents and two younger brothers, Ben and Sean all of Christmas day!

In addition to hanging around the house, opening presents and a delicious Christmas dinner, we all went that evening to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie.  I happened to like it a lot – I think everyone else did too.

We are grateful and very appreciative for all of the gifts we received this Christmas.  One gift we are especially excited about is our new video camera from Katie’s parents.  Home movies here we come! This will come in very handy once Coltrane is born – so be sure to check back here often for videos to come!

Here is a quick video of the Christmas Stockings from this Christmas.  Notice there’s a extra special stocking…

Brian.
